I’m seeing pictures of the RNC set up on the lawn of the White House and recalling when Fox News utterly lost its shit because Michelle Obama planted arugula.

The water was quiet and still yesterday morning, with just a little smokey haze. It was a beautiful hour of paddling on the lake.

I’m sending up the M-x-help signal, emacs friends. I’m using doom and vim mode: occasionally emacs gets stuck with s- as a prefix to anything I enter, and I can’t figure out how to exit that mode. Trying to enter a vi command results in emacs thinking I’m typing s-:, and it similarly wrecks emacs chords. It’s weird. If I try to just close the window, emacs puts up the close confirmation dialog, and I can’t even answer that because a y or n gets prefixed with s! shrug

If I promise the postmaster general that this isn’t a ballot, do you think he’ll find a way to get this package moving again?

Re iPad distribution for remote classes, my son’s school writes:

Your child’s 6 digit birthday is the passcode you will need to unlock your iPad.

Seems like a bad idea for the school district to use PII for a password, both for security and privacy reasons.
