Pretty Good Hat

hello world

I think the first push of this site revision broke my RSS feed, but I have now – I hope – identified and fixed that. So, hello again, all. I think Pretty Good Hat is publishing correctly once again!

A desk with monitor mounted on it, coffee cup and keyboard

It was nice to have the dining room table back for a couple of weeks. Going back to work means I’ve now reconfigure it once again as my desk.

After years of working at it, my wife has unlocked the secret to the scratch-made gluten-free, egg-free pumpkin pie. We ate a lot of these through this holiday season, and while she is suggesting that this is the final pumpkin pie of the season, I am opting to think of it as the first pumpkin pie of 2021, instead.

Following up from a couple of days ago, I have propped the new look of Pretty Good Hat up on the server and pushed the big red go button. I expect things are broken, still (in particular I don’t know what this will do to my feed, and I know webmentions are all sideways). Hey, happy new year; let’s see what happens.

edit: I may have webmentions working again, huzzah!

Having intended to make a couple of small style sheet tweaks to my hugo blog, I am now recompiling go.

A woman in a parka walking down a snowy trail lined by pine trees

Out for a walk in the snowfall last evening. We only got a couple of inches, but it transformed the landscape to winter, at least for a while, and that’s welcome.

Today called for some relaxed gaming, and Forza Horizon 4 hit the mark. It’s great fun just to drive the beautiful countryside in this game. The game also has a really excellent photo mode, so I got some bonus weekend hygge in the background for this one.

I had a good enough time doing some writing with an external keyboard and the iPad yesterday that I’m going to try to do it more often. Yesterday I dusted off my many-years old version of iA Writer and… it was great! What’s the state of the art for this kind of thing, these days?

As required by the texts, I have ritually eaten the last piece of pumpkin pie for breakfast, standing over the kitchen sink.
