Pretty Good Hat

A situation yesterday prompted me to recall this video, which I return to once in a while when I am low on joy. The rube goldberg machine version of this is probably more famous, but this marching band version of This Too Shall Pass fills a certain critical part of my heart in a way that I can’t really explain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJKythlXAIY

Sunset last night was pretty good. We’ve had dust from the west desert blown in for the last few days, so this clearing evening of fresh, breezy and cool air was welcome.

Backblaze entered this “freeze state” a couple of weeks ago and their tools to figure out what to do about it are sort of baffling. I’m supposed to compare my files to my backup state? All of them? How? For an indispensable piece of software, its usability is sometimes so disappointing.

I got out yesterday morning with my dad for the first paddleboard session of the year. There’s lots of water in the reservoir, at least for right now. It felt good to be out on the water, in the sun with him again.

Super-pleased to see that a couple of small Shiny app improvements I made this weekend correctly picked up on some source data changes today and automatically handled them. Pretty cool!

My work week starts with “service interruption to a major power line.” At least I got to make coffee first.
